It rained yesterday. But it had the decency to not rain when I left the house and start raining when I was about halfway to the university. Needless to say, I got pretty cold. And wet. It rained on the way home, too. Just not as much.
This next part’s kind of annoying.
I actually had a pretty neat topic for this blog, but then I forgot it just as I sat down. I’m typing right now in the vague hope that I’ll remember what that topic was, but so far, no such luck. I even googled “I forgot what I was going to type” and it didn’t even give me my answer. Some search engine that was. (Ignore the fact that I use Google Chrome).
Am I the only person that happens to? Seriously, it was like two seconds before I was going to write about it, and I just completely forgot. Go me.
So yeah, I just finished my first day of the new semester. It went pretty well, so I’m pleased. Remember how I said that my timetable was eerily empty?
Turns out it’s not.
Yup. Seems as there was a scheduling error and now my Tuesdays are no longer free. Oh well, I didn’t want the day off that much anyway. But I’ve still got my Thursdays! (Thursdays are cool).
I was standing in a line today, and the girl behind me tapped my on the shoulder and told me that she was standing behind me. No kidding. She told me that she was standing behind me. So I just kind of shrugged and said: “Yeah, okay.” What happened next?
She stepped out of the line and went to go and sit down.
She wasn’t standing behind me anymore. I literally did not understand. I still don’t, and I’ve had an entire day to contemplate it. Any idea why she told me that?
So I’m back and all unpacked. (Neat, that all rhymed).
For the first time since I went to university I’ve got my actual computer here as opposed to my laptop. It’s pretty neat. Even though I’ve been gone for six weeks, it feels as if nothing has changed. (Which seems a bit strange - more rhyming).
It didn’t take all that long to get unpacked, which was helped by the fact that I had some music on to make it go faster. As it turned out, one of my housemates actually recognized that it was me from the music that was playing. That was cool.
Random thought for the day: I miss the power shower back at my parents’ house.
Keep those showers showering! (For the sake of personal hygiene).
I’m on my way back to Cambridge, sitting in the back of my dad’s Toyota. It’s been six weeks since I was last there and I’m looking forward to it.
There’s always been something about car journeys that kind of makes me feel uneasy. Perhaps it’s because more often than not you’re the smallest thing on the road (excluding motorbikes, that is) and I feel that the other, larger motorists resent me for it.
I’m probably just crazy. (Probably?).
I’ll be starting classes on Monday and my schedule is eerily empty. I’ve got a feeling I’ll be getting a lot of homework.
Keep those Tumblrs tumbling!
(This was also my first post from my phone. Pretty sweet).
So the Christmas holiday’s over and I’m heading back to my house in Cambridge tomorrow. All of my friends left weeks ago (seems like I’m a late starter) and I’ve been horrifically bored ever since.
They say that only the boring are bored. I agree.
I’ll be starting my second semester at university (Anglia Ruskin, for a quick refresher) and I’m really looking forward to it. During A-levels (high school if you’re American) I studied maths, chemistry and physics, but I’ve always had this… strange attraction towards English. So on the day of my results I called up goooooooooood ol’ Anglia Ruskin and asked (read: begged) them to let me study English there.
Clearly they must have been in a good mood to let me in.
And one semester later, I’m still really enjoying myself and I’m looking forward to getting back into my learning. (Why yes, I am a nerd, thanks for asking). The only problem is with going back to university is that I can’t take my piano with me.
What? Didn’t I say I played piano?
So that’s a bit of a downer. I’ve got this MIDI keyboard that plugs into my PC, but I don’t have a decent-enough music program to really make good use of it. My roommate has a Mac with GarageBand on it, and it works perfectly.
I need a Mac.
So yeah, looking forward to heading back to university.
I’m Bluuper (but you can call me Josh) and I’m a university student living in Cambridge. I’ve read a lot of blogs during my time on the internet and I always used to think that this introductory post would be the easiest one to do.
Turns out it’s not.
I’m studying Writing and English at Anglia Ruskin University and I’m a tad keen on being a novelist someday. (My favourite drink is Coke, just in case you were wondering). Nerds come thick and fast on the internet, and I’ve just got to say that I’m one of them. I enjoy the entire spectrum of nerdisms (making that a word) from videogames to sci-fi.
But Josh! Why in the world did you want to start a blog? I can hear you yelling that at your computer screens right now. (You might want to stop, I don’t think that’s healthy).
Well, there a number of reasons. I often have these little ideas that pop into my head that I want to talk about and the only place that seems fit for these ideas is a blog. (Plus there are those times when I’m stuck somewhere and I just want to rant for a little bit). I’ve dabbled in blogging before but that was when I was much younger and probably much less interesting. (My favourite band? Reel Big Fish).
So yeah, this is my blog and I hope you enjoy it. I hope I enjoy it too.
